Learning to recognize the beauty within the difficult experiences in life has been essential to my healing and has guided the way towards stepping into my own light.

My hope is that these paintings offer you the opportunity to do the same.

Where it all starts...

Into Light is a compilation of works that speak to my personal journey of finding light within the pain that I carried throughout the majority of my adolescence.

I was taught that our painful moments are something which we will always have to live with and hopefully, will learn how to manage. For years I didn’t recognize that I was also choosing my pain because of the comfort it continued to provide me with - it was all I knew. Through finding my own meaning to spirituality, connection to source and nature, I discovered that when we allow ourselves to expand our perspective, we can also see the gifts that are uncovered in the midst of our darkest experiences.

Through my own studies and exploration in becoming a counsellor I learned that our Human Story is where our pain, fears and feelings of victimhood sit but beyond it our Divine Story.

Instead of spending years trying to distinguish the pain and move away from it, we can transmute it and expand into a beautiful and new perspective on the life that is unfolding before us. This series of artworks are my way of doing so.

My hope is that they provide you the same opportunity when in your home.

Why Prints?

As my work grows and expands, I am constantly asking myself how I can continue to be of service and expand my works reach to help support more people in bringing healing and light into their homes.

This archival series of prints are how I can continue to do so.

Each print has been purposely selected, photographed and printed using the best inks available. Quality is incredibly important to us and each step of the process is overlooked by our team to ensure that every print meets our standards.

Printed and hand framed locally, right here in Nova Scotia, we are proud to offer you a high quality and accessible way to bring meaningful artwork into your spaces.

The Process

Each painting began outside, directly in nature which allowed me to connect to my subject on a deeper level and encapsulate its patterns, colours and healing nature on the canvas.

I start every one of my paintings with blind contour drawing (drawing without looking at the paper) and intuitively adding chalk pastel and acrylic paint in layers until I feel the piece is complete. A plan is never made or followed. Instead, it is an intuitive dance between myself, the canvas and whatever nature has in store for us that day.

I'm often told that my artwork instantly calms a space and offers its viewers a moment to re-connect to what's important to them.

“I strive to transform interior spaces by encapsulating the calming energy, imagery and color combinations experienced in nature by bringing them onto the canvas. My work provides viewers the benefits of spending a moment in nature during a busy day or while in the middle of a city.” - Chanelle Jefferson.

Chanelle Jefferson is a Canadian mixed media artist and counsellor based out of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Her work explores themes of healing, emotion, and connection.

Her art has been exhibited internationally, including at Museo Bellini (Florence, Italy), and is held in private collections such as those of Pete Luckett and the MacKay-Lyons family. She was the 2023 Artist-in-Residence at the Lunenburg School of the Arts, where she deepened her exploration of intuitive art.
